Project Overview
Sahyog Ghar is an initiative aimed at connecting two vulnerable demographics in India: senior citizens living alone and orphaned children graduating from institutional care. The Challenge
Insights gathered from research
For Orphaned Children
Orphaned children face a lack of guidance, mentorship, and life skills training as they transition to adulthood, compounded by financial constraints after leaving orphanages.
For Seniors
Seniors often struggle with isolation and a lack of purpose, with limited opportunities to share their wisdom and contribute meaningfully.
Gap in Intergenerational Knowledge Sharing
A disconnect between seniors and younger generations results in missed opportunities for mutual learning and growth.

The Solution
How it works
Matching & Connection
Matching & Connection: Seniors list their homes, interests, and skills on the user-friendly app. Orphanage graduates can browse profiles, seeking compatible matches based on shared interests and academic needs. This fosters companionship, mentorship, and potential knowledge sharing.
Building Relationships
Building Relationships: Once a connection is established, seniors can initiate a chat to get to know each other better. A small fee is then charged, with a portion directly supporting the senior citizen and the rest funding Sahyog Ghar's services.
Engaging Activities
Engaging Activities: We go beyond simply connecting people. Sahyog Ghar provides games, toolkits, and organizes fun events to break the ice and bridge the generational gap, fostering a sense of family and shared experiences.
Active Community
The app features a community section where users can stay engaged, learn about upcoming events (often held in collaboration with orphanages and old-age homes), and connect with others in the Sahyog Ghar network.
Accessibility for All
Accessibility for All: Recognizing that not everyone is comfortable with technology, Sahyog Ghar offers alternative options. Seniors can register through partnered communities or old-age homes, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate.
Sahyog Ghar offers a unique solution in India. It promotes intergenerational understanding, provides companionship for those who need it most, and empowers young adults transitioning out of orphanages. It's a win-win for everyone involved!
